BYT Tuition Centres in the U.K and Tutors in London

BYT at the University of Hertfordshire Higher Education Conference

On Wednesday 15th February Assistant Director Abi from Bright Young Things St Albans was invited to take part in a careers event for final year Education Studies students at the University of Hertfordshire. The organisers were interested in hearing about Abi’s, a former Herts University student, career journey and current role with Bright Young Things, as well the tutoring industry itself.

The event offered students the opportunity to listen and talk to a number of different career professionals in the field of Education. The aim of the event was to show students the vast array of job opportunities available after graduation. Abi was the only speaker representing the tutoring industry. Other speakers included education recruitment managers, nursery teachers and managers, teachers and higher education and HR staff.

Most of the students at the event had never considered a career in tutoring, or working for a tuition provider and were interested in hearing Abi talk about the recent growth of the tuition industry (according to the Sutton trust the proportion of 11–16 year olds having received tuition rose from 18 per cent in 2005 to 25% per cent in 2016 with the figure being higher than 40 per cent in London), the type of roles BYT recruits for and what the life of a tutor may look like.

Although some of Abi’s examples of residential tuition placements or tutors travelling the world with families no doubt excited the students at the event, most of them were interested in the unique opportunities tuition providers such as Bright Young Things St Albans can offer students; a calm and friendly learning environment, small classes and a focussed, individualised teaching approach.

At Bright Young Things we take great care when selecting our tutors and we were delighted to meet such motivated, enthusiastic and driven students with interesting experiences and skills gained through their degrees. These soon-to-be graduates would no doubt be able to add immense value to the work we do and we look forward to hopefully working with many of them in due course.
