Meet the High Wycombe Team
Geordie graduated from Bristol University with a first class honours degree in Social Policy and he holds an MSc in Comparative Social Policy from the University of Oxford. He is the director and manager of Bright Young Things’ High Wycombe Tuition Centre. Geordie works hard to maintain excellent relations with parents and tutors alongside overseeing day to day operations at BYT High Wycombe.
Max graduated from the University of Portsmouth with a first class honours degree in Criminology and Psychology. He has since worked in the automotive retail training industry and ran several marketing and business to business campaigns for premium dealerships across the UK.
Max has also worked with Chesham Grammar School as a teaching and learning technician. It was here that he developed his potential for tuition and discovered an interest in education.
He is now the Assistant Centre Director of Bright Young Things High Wycombe tuition centre.
At Bright Young Things, we focus on your child as an individual. We deliver after school Maths and English tuition support for all abilities ranging from the age of 5 to 14.
Our tutors also coach our students for the 11 Plus entry to top U.K day and boarding schools.
All of our tailor made Maths and English material has been created in line with the National Curriculum and is designed to work in conjunction with classroom learning.
Whether whizzing through school, or finding it tricky to keep up, we will support your child by building confidence and enthusiasm to carry with him or her throughout their school years and on to University.
Our English tuition ecompasses focused work with BYT tutors and our materials that guide students through a spectrum of topics covering and building on the fundementals of the national curriculum. The BYT after-school English course is designed to build on core reading, comprehension, inference, handwriting, grammar and punctuation skills for students in Key Stages 1, 2 and 3.
When it comes to Maths we believe that a constant level of re-enforcement is crucial at early stages and our tutors work hard to ensure that essential numerical skills: Addition and Subtraction, Multiplication, Numbers and the Number System, Shape, Space and Measure, Money and Time, are given plenty of structured practice. We also think encouraging initiative is key and we work with your child as an individual; gauging progress and adjusting our scheme of work accordingly so as to build confidence and attainment.
Our tutor-led 11 Plus courses use CEM-based practice materials in cohesion with mock tests and exam technique booster sessions so your children can learn how best to respond to questions and keep timing in check. Our bright young tutors are passionate in delivering individualised tuition in a focused and inspiring manner.
We offer GCSE/IGCSE Revision courses during the school holidays covering all subjects. You can find out more here.
The glass frontage and open plan learning area work to represent our core principle: transparent learning.
We believe in being utterly transparent with parents and students. In the centre, parents can see the learning process in action and the interaction between tutors and students. In providing parent meetings and ongoing written progress reports, we ensure that open and honest communication surrounds the student’s work and progress.
Our current September 2017 - June 2017 Timetable is made up of the following classes:
